My friends were having an argument about the comparative sizes of the giant and colossal squid. One of my friends says that the size of the colossal squid dwarfs that of the giant squid. Another friend says that the colossal squid is only slightly larger than the giant squid. Who is right on this matter?
Colossal Squid is heavier, and generally slightly shorter — 43ft long to 46ft — than its better-known cousin, the Giant Squid.

These are generalities, though. The posterior end of a squid is equipped with fins that can act as independent "dive planes" controlling both pitch and roll. The arms and tentacles of the anterior end can be bent to control yaw and pitch. For the answers above, I've assumed that both dive planes were level, and the arms/tentacles were centered.
I'm trying to figure out how to make the squid nugget soup that is usually on the menu for Taiwanese restaurants. It tastes kinda sour and salty.
I know that you need black vinegar, cornstarch, bamboo, pepper, and squid nuggets but i'm not really sure what the exact recipe is.
use round pieces of squid rolled in a egg & flour & spices batter it is best when u make your own recipe.
What are some traits of the giant squid that give it the reputation as a monster?
Why are these traits monster-like?
The two I can think of are that it's big and that it's elusive. It was only in the last couple of years that they actually caught a live one on film.

the main difference is that colossal squid are bigger than giant squid, as their name suggests. colossal squid can be up to 14 meters long, whereas giant squid have only been recorded to reach a maximum of 13 meters long. furthermore, the giant squid's mantle is only about two meters long, since its tentacles make up most of its length. however, the colossal squid has a longer mantle and shorter tentacles.
octopus are different from squid in many ways:
firstly, octopuses don't have a pen in their mantle, unlike squids, which is a remnant of their ancestors' shell. it's a skeletal structure made of calcium carbonate, which gives squids their rigidity and rocket-like shape. octopuses are much more squishy because they don't have any skeletal elements, and they can contort their bodies to fit through very small crevices, and even shift the positions of their internal organs.
octopuses have eight tentacles, usually equal in length, whereas squid have ten tentacles, with two being longer than the other eight. squid also have lateral fins on their mantles, with which they can swim, octopuses only use their tentacles for swimming, but they can also use them for walking on the sea bed.
