Anyone Have a trout bait recipe for dough bait?

Dont put yes but its a secret. I've talked to people and seen other answers that will give u the bait but not the recipe so your stuck with a great bait and no way to make more. Theres not trout close to where I live but it makes great bluegill bait too. I've also caught carp and gar on it so i want some more.

well you probably already know this one but i just use vinnilla extract, salt, flour/water it seems to work the best. for trout you can take garlic sent that you buy in the fish store or use garlic cloves chopped up and mix it with the dough. trout LOVE garlic so that is a good way to go

How do i make a deadly trout bait that holds on the hook?

I dont want to use power bait, as it attracts to much attention from the rangers and baliffs (floating and high visibility). Surely there are some natural alternatives out there? Ideally im looking for a recipee for a good dough or paste bait.
Ty in advance if you answer this question.

trout pellet paste is made using trout pellets, corn flour, an egg and vegatable oil this form a paste which will stay on the hook the oil content will help repel the water so it takes longer to break down thus staying on the hook longer

Do flathead minnows make good rainbow trout bait?

Tomorrow I am going fishing and I want to try some new things. The lake I am fishing in offers mainly just rainbow trout, and I have some anise scented flathead minnows. Will they work? How should I fish with them?

are these the dead things that come in a jar or baggie?
try 'em but don't get your hopes up. l've never done well on preserved minnows. might be the formaldehyde. l suppose cats might bite them but for trout, l would stick to more traditional baits : worms, eggs, power bait. most likely do best with small spinners and spoons.
the thomas buoyant is hot. a panther martin is another good one.
try a fly and a bubble if using spinning gear. that may be something new for you. it works.

What is a good bait for catching many trout?

In deep pools and streams what is a good bait for catching trout.

If you want to get down to the bare bones of it all.......flies. If the water you are fishing supports trout, there is no doubt that there are hundreds of species of flies living in the stream as well. They start off as nymphs or larva. This stage lasts anywhere from a year to 3 years. Because of that, trout spend 99% of their time feeding on these nymphs. As the season rolls along, these nymphs begin to hatch and come to the surface. This is where dry flies come into play. Other great baits would be streamers that imitate minnows and other larger aquatic creatures such as crayfish and frogs. You might even want to try a mouse pattern!

The Best Bait For Trout Fishing

The Best Bait For Trout Fishing
By Trevor Kugler
In this article I’m going to discuss some of the most effective baits to use while fishing for trout in order to determine the best bait for trout fishing. Is this possible? Is it possible that there’s a “best” bait for trout fishing? I’m not entirely sure, but after fishing for these wonderful fish for more than 25 years I can honestly say that some are certainly better than others, and one in particular is certainly my favorite.

Before I get into the trout baits themselves, it’s important to know the type of trout that you’re attempting to catch. Not the species of fish, but the kind of trout. There are two basic kinds. Stocked (or planted) and native. Stocked trout are placed into the river or lake by the governments’ fish & game department. Native trout on the other hand were born and live in the water in which they reside. Actually stocked trout can become native after living in said body of water for an extended period of time (2 or more years).

Why do I mention stocked and native? Simply because both manners of trout tend to eat different kinds of bait, and as an angler you should be aware of this fact. Stocked trout eat baits such as corn, marshmallows, dough baits, and cheese. Native trout, on the other hand, tend to shy away from such baits, and tend to eat “live” baits such as worms, minnows, and crayfish. Basically, native trout are much more savvy (and more challenging) to catch than stocked trout.

One of the most popular (and effective) baits for trout fishing are synthetic baits that are shaped into live bait shapes. These baits are shaped like worms, minnows and crayfish (to name a few) and are impregnated with fish catching scents. The most popular manufacturers of these trout baits is Berkley, and are named Powerbait and Gulp. These baits, rigged on a set of gang hooks can be extremely effective.

Another popular bait is small spinners and spoons, such as Rooster Tails and Phoebe Minnows. Both native and stocked trout will bite these lures. These baits are effective in both the flowing water of rivers and streams and still the water of lakes. The important thing to remember in regards to these types of lures is to keep them small. 1/8 to 1/3 ounce will usually suffice.
