Most shops in Hongkong sell the Japanese version model's. There must be another name for Curado DSV in the Japanese Market.
if there is not you can order one from bass pro shops. i fully trust them they are a great company and you would be getting a great product. i included a link to what i think is the same model
Put Spiderwire on and hang on!
i have been using a Quantum IR300C and it is terrible. I used my friends shimano calcutta the other day and it casts so far and so smooth, which is the complete opposite of my quantum. any thoughts?
Urik is accurate.
Two of the best Bass fishermen in YAnswer's (Goldenfeather/Exert) both rate the Revo as an excellent reel.
I believe them.
If your on a budget try an Abu Garcia 4600 or 5500. Either one of those would be better than the Quantum IR series. (I once owned a Q IR
and the drag system died on me after only 1 season.)
Don't get me wrong- Calcutta's are great reels! But their price tag is great too!
Stick with Abu Garcia, Shimano & Daiwa and you'll never be "too far off the mark" in regards to quality products.
Thats my 2 cents! Hope it helps? Good luck!
Im 16 and i fish alot. im looking to upgrade my Shimano spinning reel with a baitcasting reel for my St. Criox rod. im looking at two reels Shimano curado E and Shimano Sitica E. i want to stick with Shimano becuase its been a good reel for 3 years. What one of those should i get or if there are any other good baitcasting reels you would reccomend
Thank You
You've already decided on two great reels! And you have a number of good answers.
I vote for the Curado E (I own a couple Curado's), but I understand that you may be on a budget and may not need such an expensive reel. Simply, the Citica is nice but if you want to get something a bit nicer get the Curado.
Both are solid reels.
Here's another option:
Go to EBay and purchase a USED one.
I've purchased used reels on EBay ( if your careful and only buy from a reputable dealer) and got GREAT deals on reels and rods that are barley used or "used" only in name.
Last year I got a barely used Curado for $80!
If you look carefully and peruse long enough you can find AMAZING deals on EBay. Many weekend warriors (on a budget ,without a bunch of sponsors) use Craigslist and EBay to purchase inexpensive top-end gear.
Hope this helps ya? Good fishing!
I am using Shimano's Bantam Curado Baitcasting Reels, regading the amount of line to spool up on one it appears to be pretty much a waste of money to put much more line than the distance one is able to cast, trolling situations excluded from this conversation, with that one needs to put some type of filler on the spool so that the spooled up line extends to the recommended point on the spool for optimal casting. As it will take some trial and error to determine the amount of filler to put on the spool the filler will need to be somewhat easy to remove yet be anchored well enough to the spool to prevent slipping. The question is what to use for filler?
Here's what I do: take your old line and use it as a backing for the new line. Like if it holds 165 yards of 14 # test, use 75-80 yards of old as backing and the rest new.
I'm looking for a left handed baitcaster. All I mostly found was the Shimano Curado 201. Are there any other brands out there that make left handed baitcasters?
it comes with a baiting system that is far superior to anything out there..it is called the master-baiter
