here are 3 clusters(Emporer, children, firefly, moon) (gate, horse, angel, dream) (thunder, grandchld, empty, porch). now you can use just one, or u can make one for each of them to better your chances at getting the fiv5 P01nt5. Try your hardest and be serious. and for you who dont know bait bucket poetry is when u take those words in the cluster and make a poem out of them.
u have to use all the words per clusters.

How come on the bucket for Gulp Alive says not to soak other baits in the attractant. Is this just a way for them to make more money when you run out of bait?

There's absolutely no reason why you can't. I'm not sure if other soft plastics will soak up the juice though.

When I go out on a charter boat to fish in the SF bay or the ocean, they stock up on a large amount of live anchovies. They seem to do fine when they are in the live-well, but once they are put in buckets for use as bait, they start to weaken and eventually die. Why does that happen? What is different about the bucket and the live-well for the bait?

It's the oxygen. A bucket of water only has so much oxygen in it. If you put 3-4 anchovies in a 3-gallon bucket they'll use up the oxygen in about 5-10 minutes. The bait tanks on the boat are constantly pumping fresh seawater through the tanks -- fast enough to completely change the water in under 10 minutes.

There are pocket-sized aerators I've seen used which can keep a bucket of anchovies alive for long periods. I remember once as a kid seeing guys go to the old Monstad pier at Redondo with a 20-gallon ice-chest equipped with an aerator, buy a few dozen anchovies, and roll the ice-chest a quarter mile to the little pier inside the harbor, where there were bonito, but no live bait. They used those baits for an hour or more while the rest of us were stuck with frozen anchovies and ineffective lures. They caught fish, we didn't.

That being said, at least the southern California boats have small (6" by 18" by 3 inches deep or so) handwells on the sides of the bait tanks, and anchovies (or sardines or whatever baitfish) can live in them for hours. We don't put baits in buckets, we take them straight out of the handwells and pin them on the hook.

Going fishing in a couple of days and just wondering what the lifespan is on crappie minnows. We'll be fishing in an area that takes about an hour to get there and how long can I expect the minnows to live in a minnow bucket? I figure I'll go to my local bait shop then head directly out to the fishing area so as to save time. I can't imagine them dying within a few hours but I just want somebody else's input on the matter.

hey man, they should last for a good long while in the bucket as long as you dont let them get really hot. as the oxygen and all goes see if your local bait and tackle shop has some oxygen and food tablets. it is just a small tablet that you drop in the water. (the reason that most water is blue when you buy minnows) it will keep the minnows alive for a few days. like i said as long as you dont let them get too hot. hope that helps you out a bit good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience
