i only have bait clips and every time i go crabbing my bait gets eaten away way to fast and the local bait shop is sold out right know and i was wondering if anyone knows how i could make my own.
No problem. Take a can of oily tuna fish and puncture it repeatedly with an ice pick or screw driver, preferably an old one so your Father, husband, wife or tool owner will not murder you. Attach the can inside the pot and crab away.
If you do not like that way, here is another: Again with a tin can, but you add your own bait. Take a tin can and remove the lid half way and bend the lid back. Poke multiple small holes in the remainder of the can. Fill the can partially full with the bait of your choice and secure the lid with wire. Secure this inside your trap and catch the crabs.
If you still do not like it, here is another I have used: Buy a couple of turkey legs and secure them in the trap after letting them ripen. If the crabs can eat that off you will have already caught so many it will not matter.
Good luck and enjoy the crabs.

I was wondering how should i use i mean what method works the best or how should i bait my hook with it and any tips on catching catfish would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
Sonny's makes several kinds of catfish bait - most of it is stinkbait. They even make a Sonny's super stinkbait.
The BEST thing I have found for catching catfish is chicken livers, hearts or gizzards. Take a section of pantyhose (I buy a box of knee highs) and put the liver (or heart,gizzard...) in the hose and tie it up and stick your hook through the hose. Fish deep for the biggest fish & keep in mind the bigger the bait, the bigger the fish ! early morning & early evening are best but catfish are "pigs" and will eat anytime. Night fishing is great for catfish also. With livers and such, you can catch cats just about any ol time.
Stink bait works - but the hose method is cheap and easy ! Most of the time, the fish will not swallow the hook - making for easy removal of the fish and saving time, hooks, line AND bait - you can use the same bait many times before having to "reload". And plus you don't get all that stinkbait on you !
Simple, cheap, clean & time saving !
Happy Fishing ! Hope you land the big one !!!!!!!!!!
Im new to trout fishing, i will be fishing in a pond that DNR stocks. I have a jar of the berkley power nuggets. What is the best way to rig it?
Power bait trout dough works the best when it floats underwater. The dough will absorb water once it is in water and the buoyancy will change. The best hook is a size 18 gold treble hook. You can't substitute gold hooks with bronze hooks because bronze hooks are heavier. Many might suggest treble hooks between size 14 to 16 but power bait dough can not keep those hooks stay afloat for very long once under water.
You will need a long leader for crystal clear waters and a shorter leader for murky waters. For beginners, I think an 18 inch leader is a good start. You can extend the leader another 6 to 8 inches if the water is very clear on a bright, sunny day. You should shorten the leader by 6 to 8 inches if the water is murky. For night fishing, you use 12" leader in clear waters and 6" leader in murky waters.
You use a carolina rig like this: http://www.combat-fishing.com/salmoneggsliplead.jpg and you use a 1/8oz sliding egg sinker. It is advised that you use an ultra-light setup with a line no bigger than 4lb test mono. You can step up to 6lb test lines if you use a fluorocarbon leader. Stick with mono lines for night fishing because fluorocarbon lines are highly visible under low light conditions.
A rig like this is very effective but you won't be able to release most of the fish. About 4 out of 5 fish will swallow hook. You can substitute size 18 treble with size 12 Owner mosquito hooks if you wish to do more catch and release.
At the beginning of the game when you need to bottle that bee larva thing you knocked down with the help of the bird, i need that for bait for catching a fish for the cat dont i?
you don't need bait you just fish and you catch a fish but you have catch 2 fish to get a bottle.
Recipe #2: Nuclear Jambalaya
Hans Brix? Oh No!
If I made this jambalaya any hotter, Hans Blix would start nipping at my ankles and I'd need a concrete and steel containment shield for my kitchen.
To get there:
1 lb. chicken breast
1 lb. shrimp
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 onion, 1 tomato, 1 bell pepper, 1 clove garlic (all diced)
3 cups rice
5 cups water
3 tbsp. paprika
2 tbsp. Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning
2 tbsp. Dale's
Rex's shrimp and crawfish boil and ground cayenne pepper to taste. Here you have 3 options depending on how badly you want to scorch your palate:
Alpha: 1 tbsp. cayenne, 2 tbsp. Rex's.
Beta: 3 tbsp. cayenne, 6 tbsp. Rex's.
Gamma: Empty your cayenne jar, add 1/4 cup Rex's, and wait for the IAEA to turn up and demand inspections. Tell them to pack sand. The UN will be angry with you, and they will write a letter expressing their anger.
Directions:
Sautee the onion and garlic in your pan. add the chicken, shrimp, pepper, tomato, and spices. Simmer for 10-15 minutes. Add rice and water, return to boil, and add some more Rex's if you're feeling ballsy. If the fumes from the simmering critical mass in your pan make eyes tear up across the room, you have it right. Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer for 20 minutes. Serves four generously, eight as a side.
Good luck, and don't come crying to me if you fry your esophagus. In addition, you might find yourself suddenly popular with Iranians and North Koreans.
