Where can I find a good crawfish trap?

I'd like to start crawfish trapping but I have no idea what I'm doing, any advice or info would be great.

just buy a minnow or crawdad trap and use dead fish and/or some bacon. use about 2 small cut up dead bluegill. or 3 pieces of bacon.(for some reason the crawdads I catch love bacon)

Where should I put a Crawfish trap?

I love crawdads but they are WAY too costly sometimes, so what kind of trap, bait and place should I set a trap??? Near underwater growth? By a tree growing underwater? Under a dock/platform?
Where can I buy a trap anyways?
Also, what is some good bait?chopped fish?

I have always had good luck catching them in a metal crawdad trap. I put it next to underwater vegetation (tulle's) or next to a tree that drops its leaves in the water. You can use either Night crawler worms or bacon or a really oily kind of fish for bait (make sure to tie it securely to the middle of the trap so they cannot get it from the outside). You can buy a crawdad trap at most bait shops.

i have a crawfish trap in a pond and am not sure were to put it any suggestions ?

should i put in shallow or deep water ?

depending on your pound you are puting it in. Look around for rocks, like a dam side. there are alot of crawfish in them. if you live down south find the most muddest spot to put it. the crawfish down there like the mud. if from the west and them crayfish love to hide out in the rocks. use liever or chickenwing. that one of there faviort bait. good luck and catch alot for me to eat

What is a good bait to lure crawfish into my trap?

If it is manufactured I would like to know where I can find it. thanks !

I used to trap crawfish for bass fishing in Tx, and tried several of the choices mentioned, but I had the BEST success with fish scrap, like what was left over after I fileted one. In the wild, That's their natural food, feeding on dead fish. If you have to, you can always go to an independant seafood store(not grocery store) and they should have fish scrap to give you or sell for a reasonable price. Hope you at least give this a try.

how to make a GOOD crawfish trap out of chicken wire?

HOW TO MAKE AGOOD trap out of chciken wire or ANYTHING PLEASE HELP thanks

well what we would do is put raw bacon on a piece of string and put it near rocks or places where the crawdads might be. and then....we would wait. nothing exciting and you had to have a little bit of luck too.

OKAY.........WONDER WHAT COLOR THE ETOUFFEE WILL BE?

ADDENDUM: I have had a terriffical idea: I see a new color for Weeks, Crescent or Gental Arts. A crawfish blue color like little buddy here with a tiny touch of red sliced in here and there- to match the color of a boiled crawfish!! It looks like a sky blue with a little turkish red......

crawfish escapes fate of ordinary comrades

Alan Dufrene and his coworkers at the Exterran oilfield-equipment company near the Bayou Black boat launch in Houma
often set crawfish traps in the bayou before work to try their luck. They were shocked when they pulled in the trap found
an electric blue crawfish gleaming amid its typical red brethren. Desmore, a middle-school teacher with the Terrebonne
Parish school system, said they had never seen anything like the blue crawfish. His unique coloring saved him from a trip
to the boiling pot. He was beautiful, a friend took it home to keep in his aquarium. Relatively rare, but not unknown, bright
blue crawfish are caused by a genetic abnormality in the red swamp crawfish, said Ray McClain, a crawfish researcher
with the LSU AgCenter. A crawfish's coloring is determined by pigment-containing cells underneath its shell. In rarely, the
reddish coloring pigments that normally cause a crawfish to be brownish red in color don't express themselves, and it can
cause crawfish to be orange, yellow or, most dramatically, a brilliant blue. McClain said that for some reason, this mutation
appears mainly in female crawfish and is thought to be a fatal mutation for male crawfish. While they're dramatic looking,
they're not extremely rare, McClain added. "You'll find one in about...
