I have a new home deep fryer and wish to make fresh fish and chips for my family, however I can't figure out how to keep the battered fish from grabbing onto the wire mesh basket while cooking...I have only been sucessful when skewering the fish onto a bamboo stick.......
Any good batter recipes for Halibut or other white fish?

Can I just use a deep skillet/pot? What about the basket? Do I need to go buy one?
You don't need a basket, just use a heavy fry pan or skillet.
Add enough oil to partially submerge the food (1/2-1").
Heat oil to 365-375 degrees (medium high) and add the food. Do not crowd the pieces. Turn the fish when brown and complete cooking on the other side. Drain the fish on a paper towel and serve immediately. Enjoy!
Friend was in accident and home now..gonna make gift basket and he likes to fish what kind of fish items would be good...already thought of goldfish and gummy worms, fishing mags can you think of anything else?
If he's somewhat under the weather still and needs lots of time in bed or resting, he might enjoy tying his own flies. I've never done it but if you go to one of the sporting goods stores (Gander Mountain, Cabella's, etc) and ask them what supplies are needed, I'm sure they would be helpful. I think it's mostly just an assortment of small hooks and some string and feathers. I would also search online for the directions for tying flies and print him out a copy to include in the basket, just in case he doesn't know how already.

pond about three quarters submerged and
noticed something in side that had fur! I pulled
the basket from the water and a fox was inside.
DROWNED! He went in to get a fish that was
left inside and was trapped. The basket rolled
down the hill into the water. End of story.

you to know. Maybe you will not make the same

I was once night fishing on a state trail tressel with some friends. We had three poles leaning against it and an owl flew right in the lines. He was all tangled up and we reeled him in and threw a jacket over him. We were able to cut the tangled mess out and he flew away a few minutes later. I was glad he didn't get hurt. By the way it made a move towards my buddy and he screamed like a little girl. Man that was funny.

Shake the bottle carefully. If it is watery, then you don't have fish oil. You have fish sauce.
Fish sauce is used in Vietnamese dishes and dipping sauces to add saltiness and depth of flavor. It has a pungent, strong aroma. Use it sparingly.
