Japanese beetle "bug in a bag" lure and trap...How's it work?

Amazing- naturally, I have my yearly infestation of japanese beetles, to which I respond w/ purchaing two of the bug in a bags. Wow. Filled with beetles in under a week- I'm just curious, looking at it (the two plastic interlocking vanes, the bag and the scent lure which attaches to the vanes)- how the heck does it work....do the beetles get stuck? Why not fly out? Are they "drugged"? Like to know the "how it works" behind the bag...

They put a pharamone in it that attacts the beetle.
(they think theres a mate in the bag)

Can I take a fishing lure on a plane these days?

I'm not checking a bag but would like to take a couple of plugs...any ideas?

I'm afraid you really shouldn't. While fishing rods themselves are permitted as carry-on baggage (as long as you check with your airline that the rod fits within their size limitations for carry-on items), the Transport Security Administration (TSA)
states that tackle equipment should be placed in your checked baggage as "some tackle equipment can be considered sharp and dangerous." Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm fairly certain lureswould be considered sharp and dangerous.

Your options, I guess, are to buy new lures when you get to your destination, or to resign yourself to checking a bag and putting the lures in there -- if you do that, however, be sure to wrap them to prevent injury to baggage handlers and security screeners. I wouldn't advise trying to take them on the plane with you as carry-on -- it's fairly likely you'll be stopped at security and will have to throw them away. Plus, bringing a prohibited item to a security checkpoint -- even accidentally -- is illegal, according to the TSA.

Hope this helps a little -- have a great trip, and happy fishing!

Anyone know a natural way to keep Japanese Beetles away from my garden?

I can't use pesticides because I grow food that I eat in the garden. Does anyone have any recommendations to keep away the bugs? They look like http://www.cirrusimage.com/Beetles/japanese_beetle_001.jpg. I've tried something called "Bag a Bug", which is a bag that lures the beetles in and traps them. It works well (there's hundreds of beetles in there), but they still come to the garden and eat up everything. Suggestions on keeping them away once and for all?

The parasites are a good idea, but won't happen to get rid of them immediately, but definetly helps in the long run!
For right now, I'd get some fresh garlic and hot peppers or hot pepper seed and mash or put in a blender with some water and a few drops of dish detergent depending on how large a batch you need. Strain it after it sits for maybe an hour, then spray it on your plants( rain will wash it off, so do it when not expected for a few days)

Packaging question for a small business?

Let's assume that I want to manufacture and sell small items, such as fishing lures. Some could be in clear plastic bags; some would be sold in molded plastic containers, that are attached to customized cardboard advertisements; and some would simply be sold in boxes.

What supply house or service should I contact for these materials?

Look in your Yellow pages for a local fulfillment company. They will help you find packaging materials and do the packaging for you.

What's the cheapest place to buy a gallon of milk in Tucson?

Granted, milk in the desert starts out more expensive, but where's cheapest? Im a twenty something female but I go through milk like a trucker left alone with a bag of chocolate chip cookies (1 and a half gallons a week, sometimes 2). Hey, I don't drink soda or coffee so don't poke fun.
Albertson's and Trader Joe's are out of the question. Safeway lured me in with buy 1, get 1 free but they jack the price of one gallon up so high you're not really getting one free. I've yet to find any place cheaper than Fry's, currently a gallon there costs $2.58.
Anyone else out there LOVE milk? Which type do you drink? My father gradually weaned us from 2% down to skim when we were younger. Boy am I grateful.
Xsinr: Well Im from Upstate NY, neardairy country, so I consider this expensive. Im also a married graduate student so every penny counts.
P.S. what does "wic" mean? Better not be anything smart.

Milk in Small Town East of Hell in NC at Food Lion: $3.99 / gal. for skim milk, store brand!

To save money I sometimes buy the powdered milk and make up my own gallons of milk.

Does anyone know what the name of the Law and Order SVU episode that im describing?

It was on halmark recently, im not sure but i think it may be in one of the newer series, i can't remember the way the whole thing goes, but Olivia benson goes undercover as like a pedestrian, she tries to lure in a taxi driver who is a rapist or sumthing. when undercover she is wearing a long blonde wig and a red dress and is carrying bags.

thanks loads!

That's "Lunacy," from season 10. It was about the murder of an astronaut, and it was a really good episode.
