These belts normally run at between75 and 90 pounds of tension, if there is less the belt can be thrown off the pulleys and do much damage to wiring and hoses anywhere nearby. DO not run the engine and do not drive it. Either pick up and replace the tensioner, or have it towed to a garage for repair.

The transaxel seems to engage and turn top pulley when pushed. The brake rod spring came loose or has been disconnected Both belts seem to be in fair shape but not very tight. This stopped driving when the speed lever was moved while moving after cutting grass. This is a 1992 Ranch king model 132-450F205 . 12 hp 7 speed. Thanks in advance.
I can shift it from reverse to neutral and forward with shifter and if you rock mower it will move the top pulley the right way.

There is a good chance that you broke the shifting dogs in the transaxel if this is not a shift on the fly unit. New parts are about $25 and the transaxle has to be removed and taken apart. I took mine apart a few years back and the first thing I did was take some pictures of it so I could get it back together. Turned out it wasn't that bad of a job. The axle unit is full of grease so it is messy but not hard.

I am in the process of changing the head gasket and i ran into the problem, i cannot figure out how it works so i can remove the belt and the cam rod and what not...but i can't get it to reset or give any movement in any direction...so if you know how i can get arround this please help.

If the engine is similar to the 245volvo I had. Its very simple the tension pully is spring loaded all you have to do is slacken the centre bolt/spindle the spring gives the correct tension and then retighten the bolt

I disagree with Harley_35 a timming belt failure would not cause a connecting rod to let go of the crank or the piston, timming belt failure will cause bent/broken valves, valve guides, camshaft, followers all the valve train, or damage to pistons or head.
the con rods generally only gives trouble after the big end bearing goes through lack of oil, or a bolt lets go, are you sure it's a con rod cam through the sump? at this stage i would have to say no to your question

I can't get the clearance needed th get the belt over the clutch rod
i have the tool, but it keeps slipping off lmao, ticking me off lol

This washer is too old to mess around with. The belt is difficult to replace and some have a heavy duty clutch that needs to be compressed and nobody has the tool for it.
Get a new one.
