Tackle Wraps

Answers

How can I tackle better in football?

My first question is: when you tackle and wrap up do you actually fall with them or just have them go down? Like even with no pads and knocking around do you just push or go through and fall with them?

And how do you wrap up when they stiff arm you and push you away?? I can't reach there legs!

One last question: do you actually pick them up when you have them wrapped?

thanks

off the field: get stronger and do power cleans, it will get your explosion up
on field: hit, wrap up, and keep your legs moving to drive throw him, your momentum should take them to the ground. it's all in the power of your legs

In Rugby Do You have To Wrap Your Arm Around Them In A Tackle?

In a tackle do you have to wrap your arm around them to tackle or can you just jump into them shoulder first off your feet or not?

First of all, the law states that you can't use only your shoulder, you have to make an attempt to use your arms as well. But that doesn't mean you can't hit with your shoulder 1st. It just has to be closely followed by your arms.
That's rugby union, in rugby league the law is different.

In league, you can use your shoulder only, & jumping into the attacking player shoulder 1st is perfectly legal.

What's the best way to teach a 9 year old how to tackle well?

My son is a great athelete and tackles decently but I want him to be a solid tackler. From leverage, explosion, wrapping up, etc.

First, when tackling.

If they tackle from the side you always want you kid to keep his head on the front of the opponent, so that the side of their head will be along the oppenents chest and the shoulder driving into the side of the opposing player.

when they make initial contact you want them to drive their hands up and explode through the tackle so they can take the player off balance.

Last, make sure your kid never leaves his feet, so he keeps the most power possible, and then just keep the feet moving once contact is made and to not stop until the tackle is complete.

best way to tackle after the wrap up?

i know how to wrap up and the stance to tackle but once you got him wrapped up do you want to push him forward, pull is legs toward you to make him fall? whats the best way to bring down the ball carrier after the wrap up??

after you have the persons legs, pull them towards you, bring your hips up, and then jus drive him back and the person should fall back. but if you're not strong enough you probably need to get bigger in order to be able to tackle.

how do you get your head on the chest when you tackle?

i play linebacker and my coach always tells me to but my head on the numbers to get a good tackle, but it doesnt seem to work for me... when I break down and tackle them, i can wrap up, but i have a hard time getting my head in the front. please help

how can you learn to tackle better?

I am going to be a freshman next year. i am 5'9 175 pounds. my coach wants me to play linebacker. but for some reason i can't form tackle very well. i know your suppose to wrap up and get low, right? are you suppose to run through your tackles? what should i do to work on this?

Better tackle reading first, because this is about water sports, not football.

Michael Moore to tackle private prisons in new film?

Will Michael Moore make private prisons the focus of his newest documentary expose?  That's the question the film-indusry blog slashfilm.com:

A film crew for Michael Moore’s next yet-to-be-titled documentary was in Wilkes-Barre, PA last week interviewing people involved with the Luzerne County Courthouse scandal. According to FilmBuffOnline, Moore wasn’t present during filming. For those who don’t know, county judge Mark A. Ciavarella Jr. accepted a $2.6 million from two privately owned juvenile detention centers in exchange for helping secure contracts worth upwards of $30 million.

Details about Moore’s new documentary have been kept tightly under wraps, but it was announced as a quasi-follow-up to Fahrenheit 9/11, focusing on a post-Bush administration world and the financial crisis. Privately owned prisons have become a big business over the last decade, but what does outsourcing government services to the private sector have to do with the big picture? The Geo Group has recently come under fire for possible mistreatment of prisoners, which may have resulted in inmate deaths at some of their facilities.

We'll keep you posted on developments...
