Switching from cheap rod to graphite?

Does anyone remember when they switched from a non-graphite rod to a graphite one? I remember, i was feeling crappie bites on a MH action rod, when i could hardly feel them on a cheap bluegill sized combo. Graphite is awesome. Anybody remember the day?

Yes, It was amazing.I could feel the thump of the spinner blades turning, the lizard or worm crawling over a log, a fish couldn't touch the lure without me feeling it.I also remember the $80 price tag I paid for my first graphite rod.And that was a mighty long time ago.And I can remember the first week I had it, I got out of the boat to fish a run out from the bank, and hit a limb when I casted the lure. The rod broke to pieces. And that $80 was almost a weeks work.

When making a galvanic cell, what would a graphite rod best be combined with?

Strips of Cu, Pb, Zn, Al, Ni, and Sn are all possibilities, and would it be best put into a 1.0 mol/L solution of HNO3?

Anything that is very rock-hard of a solid, I suggest silver.

How do I fix a broken graphite fly rod?

During a move, my graphite fly rod split near the top. The peaces fit together well enough to glue but I dont thing glue will hold if I have a big fish on... or even repeated casts. Is there some way to fix it, maybe glue and a brace or something?

Almost every major fly rod manufacturer now offers a no-questions asked repair/replace policy. Typically they'll charge you $20-40 shipping and handling fee. So, I'd contact the manufacturer first and see about fixing it. They won't repair it, more likely they'll supply you with a new rod section of similar taper.

Tip repair, especially with fly rods, is a mediocre fix. You lose the uninterrupted energy transfer that a fly rod needs, and you have a weak spot that's going to break again at some point down the line.

If you need to do a repair, cut both sections at the break so there are no fibers sticking out. A fine blade coping saw or hacksaw should do the trick. Check to see if the smaller section will fit into the larger section. If not, trim back the larger section in small increments until you can get a snug fit, with the upper section at least a 1/4" into the lower. Put some epoxy on the upper section, fit them together, align them, wipe the excess epoxy and let dry. Once dry, wrap the section with rod wrapping thread, and seal with a good thread coat.

In electrolysis process why do we use only graphite rod to separate compounds which contains HALOGEN?

What is up with the graphite rods in tour players bags?

I went to a tour event and notice what looked to be graphite rods in some of the players bags. I assume they are for alignment when they practice. I am now seeing some "tools" at the local muni with them. What gives?

There are many drills you can do with them. I personally went to a hardware store and bought driveway markers. They are about 4 feet long and pointed at one end. Much chearper than buying an extra couple of shafts. They can be used for alignment, also put in the ground to check stance for pivots, incorrect plane, or over extending.

A blue aqueous solution of copper11sulfate, CuSo4, is electrolyesed using a copper rod, what if graphite anode

is replaced,

what will the products?

please tell me
i am kind of confused right now

Copper will be deposited on the negative electrode, and oxygen gas will bubble off the positive.

Art Trade

A good friend of mine just sent me this wonderful hand-made reel seat. We do a little bit "art trade". Matt is an awesome amateur rod builder, yet with professional skill. The special thing is he make his own rod component from scratch. Turning reel seats, mill metals... unbelievable! It's my honor to have his work! I think I am going to have "someone" to build my ultimate trout rod! my dream rod : ) Steffen 8' 5/6 fiberglass rod! How exciting!

side note: fiberglass rod in action
In general, casting a graphite rod, the cast itself is more "forgiving" mean easier to generate a fishable cast, the stiffer graphite rod is more likely to mask a improper casting stroke, so you might feel it is easier to cast a modern graphite rod than fiberglass or bamboo rods. Fiberglass rod is softer in action, full flex and is easier to have dampen feel on the rod tip. Because of this characteristic, it is much difficult to maintain a straight rod tip path in casting stroke. This usually cause tailing loop. (this statement is actually from Mr. Lefty Kreh's article, not me) BUT, if you can fix the casting stroke - rod tip travel in relative straight path line, smooth acceleration, and combine with hauling. You will get a pretty good distance with "quiet loop" and tight loop. The fiberglass is a bit hard for beginner, but I always joking with my friend using graphite rod "Hook a fish with a graphite rod is pretty much the end of fun; but hooking a fish with fiberglass rod is just beginning of another fun." (to be continued)
