Sage Fly Rod

where can i get my sage fly rod repaired?

Sage is a quality rod , send it back to Sage for repair, but get in contact with them first, your rod might be out of date for any replacement. Does your house insurance not cover breakages? My pal got a new rod out of it.Rod repairs are not always successful, and remember there are a lot of cowboys out there

sage fishing rod buy it in australia or usa

im moving to duluth minnesota from melbourne australia, i want to but a sage fly fishing rod and all top quality fly fishing gear, is it cheaper in usa or here in australia

With the weak USD and the fact that Sage is a US mfr, I have no reason to believe you would save money by purchasing in Australia.

If you do wait until you get to Minnesota, don't make long drives around the state trying to find the best price. Sage rods are sold at the msrp; any dealer discounting their Sage rods promptly loses their Sage dealership status. Instead, consider visiting any of the many small, independent shops. You can happily purchase from the shop providing the best customer service and not have to worry that you could have saved money elsewhere.

Sage 790-4 RPL 7 Weight 9 Foot Fly Rod 4 piece?

A just inherited this rod. I know it casts really well and that Sage makes really good stuff. It is by far the nicest piece of fishng equipment I've ever owned. The Sage website had no info on it. Where kind find out other info on it?

This is from the Sage website, you may have missed this.....
As Exert said, RP, meaning reserve power, they were a fast action fly rod with a suppposed supple tip for in close fishing,
(I had one years ago, it wasn't supple). Nonetheless, it was
quite nice for long casts fishing streamers. Since you have a 7 wt, it will fill the bill for large rivers, smallmouth and light steelhead duties and will easily turn over big streamers, dries and nymphs.

Fly Fishing: Are HARDY rods better than SAGE?

I'm thinking of buying a Hardy Demon for about £200. Is there a Sage rod for about the same money that's better. What I'm after is a 9 ft 5wt which i intend to use it fishing for trout in a small loch. I'm really after something that will improve the presentation a little and hopefully be a joy to use.

Ive got both rods, purchased a hardy demon last year in Alnwick England, but i prefer sage, the action of the blank is allot better and the TCR sage rod is better than any hardy rod i have used, i might annoy some fly fisherman here but allot of hardy products are over priced in my opinion and i wont be buying any more, my vote goes for sage.

What is the best fly rod for general fishing on rivers and streams?

orvis? sage? loomis? which one?
i'm thinking of getting a 5 or 6 weight fly rod ... one that is packable maybe a 4 piece

The best fly rod is the one that works for you and you budget.

Orvis makes a full line-up of rods ranging from the Clearwater starting at $169 to the ZG Helios - upwards of $755. They are 4 piece rods. The nice thing about Orvis is that you can choose the action of the rod - they make their rods from full flex (trout bum series) to mid-flex and tip flex in all their other series, and are covered by a 25 year warrantee.

Loonis flyrods are generally fast action. You can spend $660 for a GLX, $300 for a GL3 (which is old technology ) or now they have a new series for beginners called the Neptune - for $215 all are 4 piece rods

Sage makes great fly rods - Introductory rods include the Sage Launch ( I bought one of these for my daughter) which is a medium fast action rod and not too expensive and casts well at $250 and the Sage Flight which is a fast action introductory rod for $280.
You can step up to a Z-Axis for for about $630
All are 4 piece rods

There are others to consider that are not as expensive
Echo makes a great casting rod (called the Carbon) for under $200 that is terrific, check out www.kmdtackle.com for a great deal on it.

St. Croix makes some nice value series rods as well, the Triumph series is not bad for $120, but in my opinion, most St. Croix fly rods have a "clunky" feel to them.

Redington (owned by Sage) makes a decent rod for money as well.

If I were to spend your money, here's what I would get:

Unlimited budget: Orvis Zero Gravity Helios

Under $300: Sage Launch

Under $200: Echo Carbon

Under: $150: I'd spend an extra $20 on an Orvis Clearwater

Under $100: Cabela's Traditional 2, or I'd spend an extra $20 for a
Ross Worldwide Essence Flystart rod.
