Fishing Sea

I was once shown a special fishing float for use when floating bread, crust, Pedigree chum etc. that kept the line well out of the water.
I can't seem to find one now. Anybody got any ideas, please?

When float fishing canals and still waters i seem to be constantly re casting , is the away to eleviate the tow from lakes and canals

Do you mean current? You can use a small sand anchor, 2# on a thin cord should work if the current isn't bad and won't add that much weight. The anchor bouncing on the bottom will slow you down.

I have a general idea on how to do it. Let the boat float down stream and fish over the edge, That's all I know. I need more info on how to do it. Sounds like fun!

My experience with fishing a drift boat involves drifting a river or stream and until you get to an area that you want to fish. If it is a small area it is best to stop the boat and allow the current to carry your bait or lure through the hole. This can be done several times before passing over the spot. Large areas you can slow the boat, again keeping the bait or lure well ahead of the boat. Usually once you drift over an area the fish are spooked and it will take some time to recover.

You can also drift to a good area and if possible walk the shore and fish it that way. Then move on to another spot.

Don't know where or what you are fishing for, but this is the way I have fished in Northern CA, and Oregon, for Salmon, Steel head and Trout. Hope this helps.

it needs to support a 1/2 oz sinker and a hook with live shrimp and line for a total of about 5/8 oz or 20 grams. i want it for speckled trout fishing.
i looked at cabellas and dicks and bass pro shops. want to fish at port aransas,tx on pier

I am wondering what type of bait I should use for saltwater float fishing. I am going to be fishing from shore so it would also be nice to know how deep I should go. I don't care what I catch so any advice helps.

Also, what size hooks, etc.

You can use live shrimp or a small baitfish ie: pinfish,bull minnow...!I love to drift a live bait over the flats or near any cover like bridge pilings rocks or piers.With the live baitfish this allows you to control how and where the bait goes.
Poppin corks with a shrimp can be super fun also!
I usually use a short shank live bait hook or the L197 style circle hook for live bait for use with baitfish and long shank or kahle hooks with shrimp.Now if fishing for sheepshead I use short shank live baiy hooks with the shrimp!
Even fish a trollright jig head with live shrimp this keeps the bait down and allows for a little more control of the bait.
Now for sizes I tend to stay with the smaller sized hooks unless I will be fishing for the larger snook,trout, reds or whatever big boys out there.Normal fish size hooks are - #2 to #5/0 live bait #1 to #3/0 kahle #4 to #2/0 longshank!
I will tend to use a short to a long leader as needed of flourocarbon.
When bouncing bottom with a shrimp I sometimes run 2 to 4 red, orange, pink or green hi-vis beads "I like to use glass beads" to the main line then tie on my hook! This works great with a brass n glass for use as rattle will working bait as shrimp or sand flea!

I'm thinking about buying waders and a float tube to be able to fish areas that I normally couldn't. If I buy the float tube, what type of waders do I need to buy to use with the float tube(thigh, chest, etc.). Thanks in advance.
