Fishing Minnow

Answers

I'm from australia, and just bought those banjo minnow fishing lures. Do they work in saltwater?

Want to know if The banjo minnow fishing lures on tv will work in Australian saltwater fishing evironments, particularly estuaries, and if so, what type of fish can I expect to catch. Anyone else from Australia had success with them in saltwater?

If you know how to use them, they are a GREAT BAIT. However they catch more smaller fish than bigger fish.... If the fish you are fishing for are going after bait fish then I would use them.. they imitate a dying bait fish very well, and I have some. I do not use them all the time, but they have their time and place. You have to see what type of bait fish are being fed on in the waters you re fishing, saltwater or freshwater. If you see the correct size and close enough color of the banjo minnow, then yes they will prob work.. if not then you might get lucky.. . The banjo minnow is just like any other lure, it will catch fish at the correct time for that lure... Do not count on just them.

What is your favorite crankbait/minnow fishing lure? What time of day and where do you fish it.?

What brand and color is it?

Well my favorite lure is a Heddon Pop N Image topwater lure in a shad color http://i6.tinypic.com/6ajxfuh.jpg I fish it anytime of day anywhere open water and near structure .but morning and evening are best The popping sound will bring bass up from 10 plus feet deep.

As far as crankbaits I like the Manns Baby minus I fish it along weed beds and in shallow water I parallel cast the bank with it . I fish it mid day when bass are hiding in weeds and stuff. I like this color its kind of a green and gold

I also like the rattl trap for fishing deeper water over weed beds and near structure I use this shad color and I like the 1/2 oz size http://i10.tinypic.com/63rpp35.jpg I fish it midday as well

is the banjo minnow a good fishing lure?

because i ordered it off the tv and i want to know

I'm a sucker for things on TV too! This is one product that I have actually been happy with. I prefer live bait, but got pretty good results with the banjo. It doesn't hurt as bad when I loose live bait! LOL! I have caught some decent size bass with the banjo. No trophies, but lots of fun! Happy fishing!

banjo minnow fishing?

im going to canda soon to go fishing and i have the banjo minnow set and it seemed to work so i bought the 9 inch corkscrew hoping ill catch a pike or a muskie(musky)do u have any techniques

I actually live in MN and fish in Canada frequently and have never seen anyone using a Banjo Minnow to catch Northern/Musky.

Not to say you couldn't catch them with the BM, but, I can almost guarantee you will run out of Banjo Minnow plastic bodys long before your fishing trip is over!

Most people use giant Titanium In-line spinners, HUGE Rapala Shallow Shad Raps, Giant Spinnerbaits, & huge Jigs for Musky.

The problem with Banjo for Pike?

After 1 medium-sized Pike your Banjo Minnow "body" is going to be "toast".

Expect to catch 1-2 Pike per B-Minnow. I hope your bringing 50-100+ replacement bodys?

When I go to Canada I go through bags and bags(over 100) of 4"-5" Curly-tailed Grubs and I'm fishing for Walleye & Smallmouth Bass!

In Canada, when I want to catch a Northern, it's really VERY easy. Tie on a 12LB "invisi-wire" leader and a 6" Rapala Husky Jerk in Silver. I've caught over 30 Northerns (to 42") with the same lure all day! I actually wore the hooks out!

Ya can't do that with a Banjo Minnow!

Hope this helps ya? Good fishing!

PS-I think Fubar owns stock in Banjo! (lol)

I love fishing and I go every weekend but I saw a ad on tv for something called a banjo minnow?

I was wondering if it would really work for an average fisherman like me who catches 2-4 lb bass regulary.

zoom flukes work just as good

Crappie live bait :How To Make your Own Crappie Fishing Rigs!

Crappie Live Bait Methods

How To Rig Crappie Minnows

It is very important to offer your crappie live bait presentation in just the right way so as to make the crappie get excited about hitting minnow bait presentation. It is also just as important to hook your crappie minnow correctly. You want the minnow hooked in a way that minnow can stay alive and swim freely. I am going to show you how to make a crappie minnow rig that has proven successful for me. And don’t forget to read the last paragraph because I don’t want you to miss out on a rarely used crappie minnow jigging technique.

How To Make A Dual Crappie Minnow Rig Using Three Way Swivels

You can purchase these rigs commercially but if you want to save a few bucks here’s a step by step procedure to make your own.

Step#1 You will need to have some 8-20lb fire line. For comparison, the dia. of the 20lb test is the same as 6lb mono-filament line.

Step#2 You will want your crappie minnow to swim as freely as possible so you will need to get some 3 ways swivels. The swivels will enable the minnow to swim in 360deg circles driving the crappie crazy!

Step#3 You will need some sinkers with enough weight to get your rig to the bottom. 1/4oz Egg or bass sinkers work nicely.

Step#4 Take some fire line off of your reel spool, or from the line container and cut 2 pieces 10” long, then tie a crappie hook to the end of each piece.

Step#5 Cut 2 pieces of fire line that are about 12” inches long.

Step#6 Open the bail on your fishing reel, make sure you have your fire line going through the eyelets, now pull enough line out so you can work freely while your assembling your crappie live bait rig. Pickup one of the 3 way swivels and tie it to your line that is coming from your fishing reel.

Step#7 Tie one of crappie hook leaders you made in step 4 to the open eye on the 3 way swivel that is 90 degrees clockwise. There should be one open eyelet when you get done, that is pointing strait downward.
