The fishing line that is tied on your hook does it effect your fishing?

What kind of fishing line do you think is good for tying on to the hook? Could i use cheap ones? If so will it effect my fishing and why?

It does not make good sense to use cheap equipment, especially the line. When you think about it, it is the only connection between your rod and the fish. You spend good $$$ on your rod and tackle. It only costs a little bit more to spool up with flourocarbon... but it's a tough line and can last you a while. Then there's that strength & abrasion resistance thing that's built into the line. Good stuff that you'll be glad to have when you have a fish on the end of your rod.
It actually costs more to use the cheap stuff, you have to keep changing it. There are lots of reasons the pros use this stuff.

How to connect hooks to fishing line for distance casting?

How do you perfectly connect hooks to a fishing line ? As I have been trying different methods by myself but not good. Also please give me dimensions when and where should i connect them. Please help.

This website shows you the knots you need to know, in animated form, so you can learn them easier, the palomar is a good knot, but all of the knots on here are secure.

When im using lures or connecting swivels etc i prefer this knot

What is the right way to put fishing line on a pole?

I have Cajun Fishing Line and i can't seem to remember which way to put it on. Any Help?

First off I hope you meant reel and reels get mouted to rods not poles that is unless you do mean a pole and then you just tie the line in a good knot onto the end of your pole! Otherwise!
for a spinning reel: float the spool in a bucket of water while retreiving the line onto your reel it will turn itself over when it needs to
for a baitcaster reel: let your buddy hold a pencil through the spools hole with the line coming off the spool from the top (this is key) it comes off the top and goes on the reaal to the top just like it was packaged without twist one....

Could I use fishing line that holds up to 12 lbs for bluefish?

I just recently bought a 12 lb fishing line and put it on my rod for bluefishing, but will it hold.

It should be fine as long as you don't have any structure or "snags" to contend with. Make sure your drag is set accordingly.

Always use a wire leader with Blues.

Good luck!

I just bought a moss ball with fishing line and a small anchor attached. Should I remove the line and anchor?

I bought a Chladophora aegagropila moss ball from my local pet store. It was sold with fishing line and an anchor attached. The top is growing well but the bottom is not. Should I remove them?

Moss Balls have to be rolled....I have one and every week I give it 1/4 turn to keep it round....If it was me Yes remove the line and anchor.

Choosing The Right Fishing Line

by John Andrews

fishing-lineSome people might not think that choosing the right fishing line would be so complex but it is. You need to pick the line that’s best for the kind of fish you’re fishing for. There are some other factors that will come into play as well. The line you use is the absolutely most important item your tackle box.

This major role will determine if you have successful day fishing or go home without any fish at all. There are enormous amounts of available line on the market today; however choosing the right fishing line can be very easy as long as you know what you actually are looking for.

To be a good fisherman you need to understand the pros vs. the cons of the line you’re using. The line is your lifeblood. A lot of fishermen get confused about choosing the best fishing line. This is mostly caused by them being uneducated in the many choices that’s on the market today.

One of the more popular lines out today is the monofilament line. This line was produced in 1938 and was made by DuPont. This is a synthetic super polymer which makes textile fibers like silk, cotton, wool and rayon stronger. This line is used by many for basic lake fishing. If your going to be doing some deep sea fishing then choosing this line wouldn’t be a good choice when choosing the right fishing line because you’ll need a lot of line strength and this just doesn’t have it.

Braided line was the most popular of the strings before nylon was discovered. However, braided Dacron had very poor strength and the knots were just too shady to make a real difference. It has very little stretch so, if you are looking to catch a fish that is going to put up a bit of a fight, this string will not do the job.

Another popular polymer line is Fluorocarbon, this can be a great pick when choosing the right fishing line. This line has a identical refractive index making it practically invisible in the water. It won’t absorb water either. This will make the line last for a very long time.
