Bass Swim Bait

What bait to use for bass?

I was fishing and seen big bass swimming by the bank. What bait should i use to make them bite? Torpedo, Buzzbait?

Start with the buzzbait and see how aggressive the bass are, if they don't bite use the torpedo. I also like the pop'r line up. With a little practice you can get the lure to stay in one little area and make a lot of commotion. If they still don't bite, try tossing a plastic worm and let it slowly sink to the bottom. The fish should be in a slightly aggitated state and will most likely hit the worm. If you still get no results I would go to live shiners. Tight lines!

What is the name of the swim bait with a treble hook that attaches to the bottom with a magnet?

It was developed in Lake Havasu, and is supposed to be deadly on bass.

That would be a Castaic Platinum Series Swimbait I believe. I think I saw a program on FSN where they were using this bait or one similar to it with the magnetic hook attachment.

Good luck.

i have asked the night fishing for bass in pond before i know but still no luck how about swim baits ?

giveing up is not an option i will catch a bass at night from golf course pond good thing its right across the street been trying buzz bait rapala orginal floaters rapala shad rap and am still trying them but am now thinking about paddle tail swimbait to try also really just dont know how bass find thier food at night so makes hard to figure out what to use

8" black plastic worm. 3/0 or 4/0 offset hook. 1/4oz or less worm weight.
if there are bass in the pond, this will catch them.
don't worry, they can find it. study up on lateral lines.
black will show up best at night. there is always some light. an 8" black worm will have a large profile for them to see.
even on moonless nights.

What is the best bait to catch the big Bass?

I have tried all sorts of artificial bait in our lake and can only seem to catch the smaller up to 12 inch Bass. You can see the larger ones swimming around and just looking at the bait but they dont go for it. What do I need to do differently to get them interested.

Spinners, rapalas, rubber worms, etc. catch plenty of the small ones.....

Thanks,

Yeppp Brandon is right (as usual) minnows are better than worms because only larger fish can eat minnows and sunnies cannot. I say go for the live bait and stick with your Rapalas. try doing the tap tap reel technique with the Rapalas if you know what I mean...tap tap reel tap tap reel...well duh that was obvious. Also spinnerbaits work to perfection especially in the hot weather like in August.

Swim Bait Hooks?

I just bought some Luck E Strike 5.5" Bass Magic Swimbaits. I also bought some Mustad Power Lock weighted 4/0 hooks for them. After waiting for the hooks for weeks because they were back-ordered, I discovered, the gap was way too small. Does anyone have any suggestions on some good weighted hooks to use with this bait?

The largest ones they make like these are 5/0 and I am worried the gap will be too small on those too.

Thanks,

I have the same swimbaits, and was pleased to find out that Wal-mart has Lake Fork swimbait hooks from sizes 3/0 to 7/0. These are the best hooks I have EVER used with the Bass Magic baits. Bass Pro has the Bass Magics and on the same aisle they also have the Lake Fork hooks (usually on a small display next to the Bass Magic) but they're 2 bucks cheaper at wal-mart! The Weight is fixed to the hook, it doesn't slide. The only swimbait hooks I use, extra wide gap, they're perfect!

help me find some bass!?

alright, im spending a week here at Lake Lizzie florida, in this little community im staying in theres this great little lake that you can use to catch bass from the shore, no boat required..

past sunday i was able to catch 2 12inchers one on a blue worm, and the other on a green frog.. both were in the shallow near the brush, and around sunset the flies n bugs come out and the bass just go wild picking things off the top of the water (specially in the middle of the lake)

but on tuesday a cold front came in along with some wind :/ so water got a little choppy and cooler so the bugs stoped coming out and i cant spot any bass splashing around...

the water is pretty clear and very clean, looks like sand and drit bottom, brush all along the edges and the waters pretty deep in the middle. there a lot of bait fish swimming around, but the bass seems to feed on flies specially, but this dam cold front and wind stoped activity ><

so where are the bass?
o right, some tips on how to catch em will help to.

im armed with a small white/silver spinner thats pretty heavy, a larger green, red, black, speckled, spinner with a gold and silver blades, and a small light weight green spinner with a silver blade, i also have blue glitterly worms 7.5inch, and red and black plastic worms 10inch, green and white frogs, some crawly looking thing, and what looks like a brown crawfish, and i also have a silver with blue trimmings fish with weights inside(thrown down wind this sucker goes FAR!), and a really small and really light little round black and green fish that can barely cast 5 feet without weight ><

its also useually sunny during the days.. so i thought the spinners could immitate flies and bugs, but i never got a hit.. it was pretty late when i tried though.

o and yesterday pretty late, i saw a bass leap outa the water to snag a fly that was probably 15 feet from the brush.. but it was the only one i saw all day

help plz

Heres the deal- the cold front knocked the bass fishing in the head-usually takes a good 2 to 3 days for them to get back to normal, but a few can still be caught by changing tactics- the fish move into deeper water and slow down on their feeding- go to soft plastics fished slower and deeper. as they start to get back to the bank, go with your small spinner baits and if you have them or can cast them the Zoom finesse worm fished without a weight, just a 3\0 hook is deadly-fish it very slow and retrieve it with soft twitches of your rod-just mentally picture the lure suspended a foot two under the surface and work it back to you. Another good bait is the senko or senko type baits- they are like worms but they are heavier and thicker much like a pencil but a little thicker. You fish it like a finesse worm but a little faster- fish will sometimes hit it on the fall This is rapidly becoming one of my best producing lures. I hope this helps, if not on this trip, perhaps the next one. Good luck and good fishing!
