Floating Lures

Answers

What are the best floating lures for bass, pike, and trout, in southern california?

If you can, I would very much appreciate mentions of actual areas in Southern California that you know these lures are effective. Also, best areas for shallow water fishing and what fish are there? I know that its alot of questions but as much info as you can please.

I only fish for bass, so here is my list for bass. I would try Rebel pop-r's in different sizes and colors. Hula poppers, heddons zara spook for big bass, try different propeller lures, the Rapala original floating minnow. Try some different frogs that can float over weeds, and provoke vicious strikes, you could also try different floating plastic baits from 3x by strike king, they have all sorts of plastics that float like lizards, worms, crawfish, etc... I live in PA, but there are alot of constants in bass fishing. If your not producing fish, vary your retrieve speed, and technique. In clear water use realistic lures, in cloudy water use brighter lures like firetiger, in muddy waters try lures that make noise so the fish can zero in on them. A few examples are spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and wide wobble crankbaits. Same with at night, use noisy lures. But I have also got fish at night with worms, which don't make any noise. Try different things till you hit the right lure. Tight lines

Making floating lures sink/suspend?

I would like to make some of my floating lures suspend or slowly sink. What is the best way to do this?

I use BBs to make the lure sink at a certain rate. You will have to check it as you go to see the sink rate. I like to use fingernail polish to seal the lure back up.

One thing you must do is make sure the lure stays centered. You don't want to throw the lure out of balance.

What's the right rigging for rapala original floating lure?

I am fishing for bass, trout, panfish in a lake. Please tell me if this is the right way to rig the line. First goes the sinker followed by a swivel. Then I tie a leader line which has my rapala original floating lure attached.

No with a floating lure you use no swivel or weight, tie the line directly to the metal loop at the nose of the lure

What is the best way to attract a floating lure for bass?

I've been trying the jerk jerk stop technique, but it doesn't seem to work in Minnesota.

What is the best way to attract bass with a floating lure?

I've tried the jerk, jerk, stop technique, but it doesn't seem to work where i live in Minnesota.

Top water fishing requires the right water, spot, and temperatures. Bass will rise 10 or 12 feet sometimes, but more often only 5 or 6.
try a S L O W reel. Try a very small twich, twich or three and then pause 10 seconds before repeating. then try a big twich or jerk or three and pause.
Always let the lure pause before starting the retreve! Try bothy a lipped lure and a prop lure. Try very slow to very fast- where you know bass are. These techniques also work on pickeral and pike too!

Other than Spinners and Floating Rapalas, what are some good lures for Trout!?!?

Rainbow, Brookies, and Browns to be precise.

thanks

Kastmasters & other spoons.

Small crankbaits & other minnow type baits.

Flies.

Small lip less cranks.

Your Guide to Bass Fishing Tackles

If you like to spend a lazy weekend afternoon out on the lake with nothing but a cooler full of drinks and your trusty fishing rod for company, then this is the guide for you. Here we'll go over some of the most common tackle used in bass fishing.
Bass fishing as I am sure you aware, is not just recreational it can also be very competitive. In actual fact the competitive aspect of bass fishing has increased in popularity over the years. Bass fishermen commonly use flies, spinner lures, plastic worms, and floating lures. The flies that bass fishermen use today started out as derivatives of salmon and trout flies, but have been refined to work specifically for bass.
Spinner lures work much like their name suggests- they spin when they are reeled in, creating movement that attracts the attention of any nearby bass. The goal is simple, attract the fish and get that bite.
Plastic worms, far less messy than their real counterparts, can be infused with scents to further entice the fish. Floating lures stay near the surface to catch any stragglers that like to stay near the water line.
Bass fishing can be a relaxing hobby, perfect to spend a little time with friends, or just on your own. The information in this article is meant to give a general idea of some of the equipment used in bass fishing. The real key to successful when it comes to bass fishing lies in understanding the bass fish itself, once you get to know its habits you will put yourself in a lot better position to be able to catch it.
