What are the 4 must have flies in fly fishing for trout?

im a beginer fly fisherman and i love all kinds of fishing. i think i know the 4 top patterns for each type of flys ( dry flies, wet flys, nymphs, and streamers) but i would like to know what other people think. please send links and please i would like to see alot of personal favorite patterns.

I'm from Montana and tied professionally a million years ago when I was in high school. My pick Royal Wulff, Royal Humpy, Elk Hair Caddis, and any hopper pattern for dry flies. For wets, all you really need is an Emergent Sparkle Pupa. Nymphs: Hare's Ear, Prince, Pheasant Tail, and all three in bead head (I get extras here because I was short on the wets). Streamers: Wooly Bugger, Muddler Minnow, Muddler Marabou White and Black.

The most fun I've had is dragging a Yellow Marabou Muddler across the top of really high muddy water. The browns would come right of the bottom and smash it like you've never seen. Some would come two feet out of the water after it.

What is the best method and fly for fishing trout with a fly rod?

Im going fly fishing in two weeks and want to know which fly will work best for catching trout

The best method in my opinion would be nymphing. I've caught most of my trout nymphing. Just read this website, it can explain it better than I can. http://www.flyfishingjournal.com/archives/fa199809.htm The best overall fly in the would is without a doubt in my opinion and most other fly fishers the woolly bugger, Where I come from olive in size 8 or 10 is the most popular. As far as selecting which nymphs to use and which sizes to use, I can't really tell you that because I've probably never fished the river you'll be fishing so try to look it up on the Internet or talk to someone who knows.

I just go a fly-fishing rod, any tips for fishing for trout?

Yea, well i just want some tips for fishing trout, like what flies to use, i know how to cast and how to fight a fish, so, please help.

first, you need to what kind and what size of trout you have in your area, then the type of water you're fishing. if you're fishing a creek full of stocked rainbows, they'll hit about anything. if some tiny limestone creek with real picky browns, you'll need a 9' leader with a super fine tippet and match the hatch very closely. all that said, use a size 8 muddler minnow. work it either dry or wet. almost anything eats them. they resemble lots of different forage.

What are good methods of fishing for trout other than fly fishing?

I am going to the Hiwassee soon with some friends. They don't fly fish, and they dont have enough time to learn. Will they be able to attract trout with a zebco?

I use Blue Fox spinners and have the trophies on the wall and trout in the freezer to show for it. In most creeks and rivers I use gold size 2, but also take sizes 1 and 3 in other colors.
I've been using them for over 20 years. Just cast them close to sunken logs and rocks that trout might be hiding behind and try to make them move like a minnow trying to get away, just move them slowly so the trout can catch them. You want to make the blade spin, but try to reel them in as slow as you can get away with without snagging them. Try to work them fairly deep, but don't let them hit the bottom or you will lose them.

Where to Trout fish in Tennessee? I am planning a Tennessee fly-fishing trip need a good location.?

A few friends are going fly-fishing in Tennessee but need a good location to go. Wild trout streams would be great but will consider a stocked stream. We are also taking the families so a few will want other daytime activities. We will be doing a self-guided fishing trip, will be camping but have thought of a cabin if available. Maybe 10 people total with two kids. I have need to fight a wild trout on a hand tied fly.
