Octopus Hook

Answers

i saw this horror flick when i was young but i cant remember the name of it. I was about a octopus with a hook?

The octopus would come out of the water and kill people. One scene it pulled a poodle through a vent. Another scene it chased a lady who had just got out of the shower into her pantry before he killed her. I think they killed it with a stick of dynamite in the end. I was only 5 or 6 when i saw it. If you know what this movie is please let me know.

If it stayed in the water I would have suggested the movie Tentacles. But it's probably an older movie, although not knowing how old you are doesn't help. I'm guessing it's an old black & white film like It Came From Beneath the Sea.

Unless that's too old of a movie.

What is the difference between circle hooks and octopus hooks? Pros and cons?

I want the one that you really don't need set the hook but it just gets itself set/hooked in the fishes mouth as you reel in the slack with little effort. Also, do they come in sizes such as 10-1?

circle hooks a full turn of the hook point back into the shank of the hook itself the octopus does not and also the eye turn out!
With circle hooks the hook does not set itself but with tension on the line the hook follows a natural line to the corner of the mouth then with line tension (reeling to the fish) the point penetrates the mouth and with the design(circle) it is less likely to ever throw the hook! Also with a true circle hook a fish can swallow the hook and with a straight pulling of the hook it can be pulled out of the fish with minimal damage!

Pros- circle hook less damage to fish ease of hooking when used properly!
Octopus can use a few more way in rigging with soft plastic!
Cons- circle not much good for soft plastic's for bass fishing but can be used!
Octopus are more versitale but still have the J hook design and do more damage if deep hooked!
Octopus sizes that I know of are from #4 to 5/0!
Circle hooks from size #1 to 16/0 maybe even bigger!

who would win: an octopus with hooks on its tentacles or a dolphin with a jetpack?

DOLPHIN WITH A JETpACK DUHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

What can I use size 5/0 and 6/0 hooks for?

One is a Gamakatsu octopus hook.It looks like a circle hook but not quite as round. The other is Owner brand cutting point, similar shape.I usually fish for smaller fish like bullhead and common carp 1-10 pounds. What are hooks these size typically used for catching?

great for big cats if using live or cut bate. holds bait well on large live baits such as small brim . good luck and good fishin

Friday Night Frights: Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus DVD Review

As soon as I saw this title on The Asylum’s site, I knew I had to check it out! I know I know I am a little late on the Friday Night thing but I had a chance to sneak off for a long weekend with the family so you get a bit of a Savage Sunday instead!

While on an unauthorized underwater mission in the Antartic, tracking whales, marine biologist Emma MacNeil (Deborah Gibson, yes THAT Debbie Gibson!) uncovers a government test utilizing underwater equipment that runs the whales off course and into a glacier. Now also trapped frozen in said glacier are two behemoth sea monsters from the past, a Megalodon (aka mega-shark) and a giant octopus. Both are freed from their longtime ice prisons, and they take off for warmer waters.
Emma goes to her mentor and college professor (Sean Lawlor) for advice and to take a look at a giant tooth that she pulled from a half eaten whale that washed up on the beach. Rounding out the braintrust that the government asks for help is Dr. Shimada (Vic Chao) who is totally devoted to saving earth from the creatures, with a slight pause to hook up with Emma!

Anyway, the three team up to witness several big battles between the monsters over the course of the film, which is really what we want to see anyway. The best of these moments is probably the scene from the trailer where the shark launches itself into the air to take out a low flying passenger plane, in the spirit of those Discovery Channel specials on the jumping sharks off the coast of South Africa. Tiny Juggernaught, longtime effects crew for The Asylum’s films is once again behind the effects. The quality of the CGI varies at points but overall it is pretty good, especially for an intentional b movie like Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus.

There are two recognizable names in the movie, the most suprising being Deborah Gibson. She puts in a decent performance as Emma, although emotions are a little rough as she finds herself falling for Doctor Shimada. The other actor is Lorenzo Lamas, who shows up to chew up some lines as the high ranking military official who’s uniform is a black tshirt, Baxter. Sean Lawlor who you might recognize from Braveheart puts on probably the strongest performance as Emma’s mentor adding a veteran presence to the cast who seems to play his role a bit more seriously than Lamas.
