A speed trap is set up with two pressure-activated strips placed across the highway, 123 m apart. A car is speeding along at 22.08 m/s, while the speed limit is 15 m/s. At the instant the car activates the first strip, the driver begins slowing down. What is the magnitude of the minimum deceleration needed in order that the average speed is within the limit by the time the car crosses the second marker?
His answer is right, but remember that it's asking for the "magnitude," which can't be negative (even if we are dealing with deacceleration).
The speed camera flashed twice. It was a 30 mph limit. I know it was flashing the other driver, but could it tell that I was within the speed limit, or will I get a ticket too - I will be on the same photo.
I know what speed I was doing because I knew the speed trap was there, it was a steep hill, and I checked the speedo just before the speed trap.
yes. you are ok, like the other answers thats what the line graduations are for.
please don,t believe the other answers about not taking photo,s of you going too fast going towards a speed camera and only taking photo,s from behind.
if a camera flashes you once it is warning you that you are exceeding the speed limit but not enough for a prosecution, two and you are technically "done" as this is the measurement between the lines.
the cameras are set regardless by the manufacturer but not all of them have films in, it all depends on the force in who,s area you are in and their budget.
Since the headlight is always on how do motorcyclists warn each other of a speed trap they may be approaching?
Tap the top of the helmet, also an indication of police ahead.
I thought they werent allowed to patrol Interstate 95 since it is under the jurisdiction of the state government, and that the Florida State Troopers could only setup speed traps on 95. I have lived here in Florida for awhile now and I just saw a speed trap setup w/ city police officers on 95. I have never seen this before, only state troopers.
The Interstate highway system is under the responsibility of the federal government, not the jurisdiction.
If it goes through the city limits, they can legally be there.
I have heard Woodworth, Louisiana is the worst speed trap in the nation. I'm just courious if anyone knows any other ones, or if Woodworth is the winner?
Waldo, Florida, and Lawtey, Florida, are the only known towns (as of 2005) to be designated by AAA Auto Club as "traffic traps" (speed traps).
A force of fewer than a dozen full-time and reserve officers in Coburg, Oregon, a city of fewer than 1,000 people, raised over $750,000 in traffic fines in a year on a section of Interstate 5 outside the city limits. When the Oregon Legislative Assembly closed a legal loophole the city had been exploiting, Coburg's police force spent the last six months before the law took effect writing an average of 22 tickets/day.
New Rome, Ohio was the worse. A police force of 14 presided over a community of only 60 and collected around $400,000 in tickets annually. This comprised nearly all of the village's budget, and nearly all went back into funding the police. A judge ordered the city to be dissolved after the state legislature enacted a new law to enable the judge to do so, and the attorney general of Ohio sued New Rome to force it to dissolve.
